Improving the Standards of Living and Livelihoods of Homeless Mothers and Street Children.
Amanda Rafiani was born and raised in Palembang, South Sumatra. She then moved to Java to continue her studies in Child Psychology at the Ahmad Dahlan University. She is currently the director and co-founder of the Bali Street Mums and Kids Foundation (BSMK), a foundation engaged in social and education programs for homeless moms and children in Bali. Through BSM she implemented women’s empowerment programs and educational support for street children so they can have a better standard of living.
Before forming BSM with her colleague Kim Farr, Amanda was involved in various fields such as being a professional in tourism and hospitality, journalism and of course social and education work. Amanda has been devoted to the social and education sector since 2013, when she joined as a volunteer (psychological mentor) at the Generasi Bisa (GERASA) Foundation in Bali. She also served as the Regional Coordinator at the Bali Children Project (BCP) Foundation and as a volunteer at the Save Childhood Movement.
