Building a community-led waste management movement for a better, more sustainable Gorontalo.
Gabrina Uduala is the Regional Coordinator of the Rintara Jaya National Forum, an environmental organization founded by the alumni of the Nusantara Jaya Expedition, that was organized by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Indonesia.
During the expedition, Gabrina and her colleagues carried out several programs in the education, health, economic, and environment sectors. Through this journey, Gabrina Uduala became interested in getting the communities and people around her to be more aware of waste issues, especially plastic waste.
Gabrina was also appointed to oversee World Clean Up Day in the Gorontalo area. She enthusiastically campaigns for waste management issues and now fights for this cause through Rintara Jaya and several other organizations in Gorontalo.
Gabrina’s hope for Gorontalo is that someday everyone in the province will have an awareness of the importance of good waste management practices to keep the environment clean and healthy. In the future, Gabrina hopes to build a special study center to promote knowledge about nature and how to harness nature’s potential without destroying it.
