Building a Strong Environmental Education Program from the Ground Up.
Irma Fatmayanti has been a teacher at the Tasikmalaya City Sobat Bumi Forestry Vocational School since 2013. She was appointed as the school’s principal in 2016, and has since successfully carried out the school accreditation and received recognition as part of the Indonesian Forestry Vocational High School Student Competency award. She also led the school to receiving the Adiwiyata award, a prestigious nation-wide green award for Indonesia’s public schools.
Her love for the environment encouraged Irma to become the Coordinator for Planning at the Communication Forum for Watershed Management in her region. Her responsibility is to plan, develop, and carry out activities related to watershed health.
Irma also formed an institution called Nyaah ka Alam which focuses on environmental issues, education, women, and children. She was an initiator for the formation of KTH Wana Bakukung with Forestry Extension Officers from the West Java Province Forestry Service, and serves KTH through the Honey Cultivation Work Program and Forest Plant Nursery.
