Strengthening the Indigenous local identity with culturally-based knowledge.

Juli Natalia Silalahi has worked as a Lecturer in the Sociology Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Palangka Raya University, since 2018. Her scientific concentration is Political Sociology, Environment, and Women. She often teaches courses in Environmental Sociology, Social AMDAL Studies, and Village Community Empowerment.

Her academic background motivated her to become the Head of the Community Service Team on Ecotourism Empowerment Training for the Indigenous peoples of Bawan Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, in 2019. She also became a member of the research team for the community empowerment program in the Pulang Pisau Regency. The Indigenous people of Central Kalimantan are very close to nature, and they have culturally-based environmental conservation. The Pahewan Huluk forest community has developed into a tourism village that promotes cultural and environmental values. Culturally-based knowledge for protecting the environment should be presented to the public, as an effort to strengthen the identity and independence of the community together with the environment.
