Mobilizing young people all over the Colorado Plateau to train, learn, and develop relationships in the face of climate change.

Lyrica (she/her) is the co-director of Uplift Climate, a youth oriented space that brings together young people from all over the Greater Southwest, to learn, connect, and develop relationships in the face of climate disaster and environmental injustice. She is second generation Guatemalan with settler, immigrant, and indigenous (Maya Mam) roots. Having grown up among the diverse landscapes of the Colorado Plateau, she is now most responsible to these communities and landscapes in the Southwest and her ancestral homelands of Guatemala. Approaching her work from the inter-connectivity of Indigenous sovereignty, migrant justice and climate justice, she advocates for community based, decentralized, localized solutions that tackle the root causes of climate change.

She lives in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Northern Arizona University with bachelor degrees in Political Science and International Affairs. She enjoys hiking, plants, weaving, reading, cooking and cats.
