Helping conservation organizations become more inclusive and implement new methods to complex conservation problems.
Maria is originally from Argentina and has lived in the United States for the last 14 years. She has a passion for wildlife conservation that lead her to receiving a degree in veterinary medicine from the National University of Rio Cuarto in 2006, and a Ph.D. in wildlife management and conservation biology from North Carolina State University in 2013. Since then Maria has worked in academia and government until 2018 when she co-founded Resolve Conservation. Through Resolve, Maria and her co-founder, Graise, are helping conservation organizations implement new methodologies to complex conservation problems. Our flagship project uses decentralized technology to shift the paradigm on how conservation data is stored and shared, aiming at creating a more democratic and balanced data power structure.
Maria is passionate about increasing access and opportunity to nature and to the conservation field for women and people of color. To do so she helps conservation organizations become more inclusive and representative of the people they serve through teaching adaptive leadership, systems thinking and design thinking workshops. She also serves as a board member for the North Carolina Wildlife Federation and as a guest lecturer at several universities such as WCU and the University of Auckland.
Maria loves spending time in nature, walking barefoot, writing, eating candy, and drinking good wine. She used to be a yoga teacher and still loves the energy of communal practice.
