Yohana Baransano is from Jayapura city, the capital of Papua Province. Seeing the need to respond to urban problems, namely urgent plastic waste, she engages with the community at the local level by utilizing existing networks and the power of social media. She graduated from Cenderawasih University, Papua, with a degree in English, and worked as a researcher and activist for social issues. She has also worked on small local programs such as beach cleanups around the city of Jayapura that encouraged children’s participation. Yohana has experience working in local and international institutions, including working on environmental programs with the IUCN and WWF Netherlands.
