Aïma Paule aka Aïma the Dreamer is a multi disciplinary artist. Aïma has been exhibiting art, performing, producing, and hosting events for over 20yrs locally, nationally and internationally. Rockin’ crowds from Oakland to Barcelona, as a vocalist and MC, their socially just content and smooth delivery makes them an easy favorite for anyone who enjoys music with a message.

Aima is co-founder of Oakland, CA beloved Soulovely, a monthly cultural event, established in 2011, conceived of and stewarded by three powerful cultural practitioners; Emancipation, LadyRyan and Aïma the Dreamer, each of whom is of African descent. Having collaborated to lead this cultural and curatorial platform for over a decade; the vision of Soulovely is to sustain a safe, and celebratory space – both virtually and in real life – to uplift the beauty and resilience of Oakland’s queer and trans* BIPOC vibrant, active, and radical queer history.

Aïma the Dreamer has opened up for and been on the bill with such greats as Kaytranada, Masego, Ife, Flying Lotus, Talib Kweli, Roy Ayers, Nneka, Robert Glasper, Mc Lyte, Les Nubians to name a few. They are currently releasing their latest music project ‘Femmenomenon’ with their group Femme Deadly Venoms. Their title track ‘Femmenomenon’ was recently featured on CBS’ hit show ‘The Equalizer’, starring Queen Latifah, season 2 episode 6. ‘Femmenomenon’ the single is available for streaming everywhere.

Another side of Aïma’s creative expression is through multimedia concepts, installations and set designs. Aïma learned artisan and craft techniques from their mother and grandmother who were both incredible artists in their own right. Aïma is drawn towards natural materials, found/ upcycled materials, sacred geometry, healing frequencies and ancestral wisdom & medicines as inspiration for their art and installations. Aïma has been invited to exhibit in 3 exhibitions, “Unbound Roots” at SomArts, SF ‘The Black Woman is God’ & ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ at The African American Arts & Culture Complex, SF. In March 2020 they were blessed with their first AIR experience through The African American Arts & Culture complex. Black Space Residency in April 2021. Mugworts residency in February 2022.

Aïma is the living embodiment of intersectionality. As an out Queer mixed race Black N. African Berber Arab and Russian Jewish Hueman. A first generation child of an immigrant single mother. A survivor of homelessness, sexual assault, and poverty. Aïma’s unique perspective has allowed them the ability of understanding the complexities of life in a very personal way. Using mixed art disciplines as their tools for liberation, Aïma has dedicated their life to creating art and producing platforms that uplift the brilliant, and often neglected, diverse voices and perspective of their varied communities with a special focus on QTBIPOC, intersectional feminism, women rights, and anti racism.
