Connecting people to the natural world through herbalism, land stewardship, farming, education, and gardening.

Brianna Alyssa Higareda Garcia is an Environmental Justice Communications Specialist at Little Manila Rising, an organization in South Stockton dedicated to developing equitable solutions to the effects of historical marginalization, institutionalized racism, and harmful public policy.

Brianna grew up in Pacoima, California, and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Chicano/Chicana Studies. As a young child, she volunteered to help clean up the Pacoima Projects with her grandmother and other señoras from the neighborhood. From her grandmother, Brianna learned the joys of plants, which motivated her to work at the UC Davis Student Farm.

Throughout her life, Brianna has sought opportunities that strengthen her relationship with both plants and people, be that through gardening, developing curriculum, planning events, executing workshops, or farming. At Little Manila Rising, Brianna continues her passion of connecting people to the natural world.
