Hosting farmer trainings and support spaces supporting and advocating for veterans, caregivers, and community members.

Emily Emmons is Co-Founder and Executive Director of Ho`ōla Veteran Services at Ho`ōla Farms, an organization dedicated to serving Hawaiʻi’s military veterans, their families and caregivers, and community members in the hopes of creating a more sustainable and thriving future for all.

Ho`ōla Farms holds agriculture trainings and community support programs, has a FoodHub and commercial kitchen space, and runs an online farmers market. This full cycle approach allows Ho`ōla Farms to support Veterans and community members at whatever stage of their agriculture journey they are in.

Emily’s prior experience includes a career in marketing and sales, nonprofit management, and veteran advocacy on the national, state, and local levels. Since 2014, Emily has held influential positions, including service as a field representative for U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and an Elizabeth Dole Foundation Fellow. Through this work, Emily has advocated for veterans and their families living in rural areas and has developed a strong network of local, state, and national stakeholders who support Hoʻōla. Emily has been a speaker at the Farmer Veteran Coalition, Elizabeth Dole Foundation Hidden Heroes event, two Department of Defense conferences, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, where she dicussed transitioning military personnel and the role of the caregiver, along with the importance of supporting agriculture programs for veterans on a local level.

Emily is a firm believer in the power of action, and is passionate about not just identifying unmet needs within the community, but proactively seeking ways to fill those gaps. This approach has enabled Ho`ōla Farms to be a versatile and responsive organization, always ready to adapt and address emerging challenges. Emily lives in Hawaii with her husband and their two daughters. In her free time, you’ll find her caring for her miniature donkeys, chickens, and ducks.
