Seeking food security through local farmer education and collaborative partnerships that are plant and poultry farming and distributing produce to food-insecure families.

Michelle Crisostomo is the President and Co-Founder of Guåhan Sustainable Culture (GSC), a non-profit organization established on Guam in 2019 with a mission to cultivate environmental sustainability within the local community through practical education, social engagement, and collaborative partnerships. Michelle and GSC have helped the local community achieve greater food security and sovereignty by establishing community and school gardens, starting poultry farms, hosting educational programs, donating produce and food to families, and distributing thousands of dollars in relief to farmers who suffered damages during Typhoon Mawar.

Michelle owns and operates Tiny Greens Guam, one of the leading producers of microgreens for many of the island’s restaurants and hotels. She owns a hydroponic consulting company that provides local community members with tools and support to start their own hydroponic gardens. She has taught hundreds of adults and children how to grow microgreens and cultivate other fruits and vegetables, as well as how to raise poultry in their own backyards.

Michelle recently served four years on the Board of Directors for the Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce as the Education Committee Chairperson, Finance Committee Chairperson, and Treasurer. She now serves as County Committee member and Vice Chair for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA), representing all farmers in the central region of Guam and overseeing FSA programs and outreach to the farming community.

Michelle graduated from Webster University with a B.A. in Business Management. She enjoys learning new cooking techniques, practicing CHamoru, playing with her hens, strength training, and spending time with her family and friends in the stunning natural surroundings of Guam.
